My Registration Form should print out on one sheet, if not, please make your text size smaller, thank you.
For Timberlane classes, payment should be received by the school at least one week in advance. Or pay Renzo Binaghi on the night of class and bring the registration form, but pre-registration is required, contact Donna, information is above. Renzo will be in the Library Room, Mon.-Thurs, 5 to 9 p.m., (enter right front door of Timberlane High School, stay straight down that hallway, the Library is on the right side.) You can also drop your registration form and payment off at the school office during the day (enter right front door, office is there on the left side).
Classes are held in Room 400, (enter right front door, turn left down the 1st hallway, room is on the right side).
TAI CHI (Tai Chi Chuan) is a slow, gentle motion sequence practiced by Chinese martial artists since the twelfth century, and it is now a very popular exercise in the world today. This ancient art focuses on the circulation of Chi (Qi, Ki), a universal energy which nourishes and sustains life; the movements help to remove energetic blockages so Chi can flow more smoothly for well-being. Tai Chi may promote good health and longevity, reduce stress, increase energy and bone density, improve immune function, balance, flexibility, digestion, concentration, and so many other benefits.
Harvard Medical School Publications have shown that Tai Chi, when combined with standard treatment, appears to be helpful for several medical conditions, such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, sleep problems, heart disease, lowers blood pressure, improves levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, insulin, and C-reactive protein. A 2008 study at the University of Rochester, found that quality of life and functional capacity (including aerobic capacity, muscular strength and flexibility) improved in women with breast cancer who did 12 weeks of Tai Chi. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine stated that research found Tai Chi may be an effective, safe, and practical intervention for maintaining bone mineral density in postmenopausal women, improve balance, and reduce fall frequency. A study from Washington University School of Medicine found that people with Parkinson's disease showed improved balance, walking ability, and overall well-being with Tai Chi.
Classes will start with applying a different therapeutic-grade essential oil each week to help with such things as relaxation, releasing negativity, centering, mental clarity, etc., and combined with meditation for contemplation, to help raise our frequency of vibration for well-being; followed by easy Qigong exercises: loosening the joints, plus easy stretching and warm-ups. Then the beginning portion of the Taijiquan Classical Yang Style will be taught, with the movements coordinating with the rhythm of music creating a unique “soft moving meditation dance,” raising our spirit, bringing peace of mind, and joy to our heart, while giving a sense of oneness with ourselves, nature, the universe, and divine power. Each class will end with Sound Therapy - using a variety of sound instruments like singing bowls, gongs and tingshas for clearing, grounding and healing. Come have fun and enjoy all the benefits this class has to offer for body, mind & spirit. Wear loose comfortable clothing and flexible footwear with fairly smooth soles. Bring water to drink.
Check with your doctor if you have a limiting musculoskeletal problem or medical condition - or if you take medications that can make you dizzy or lightheaded, before starting Tai Chi. Given its excellent safety record, chances are that you'll be encouraged to try it.
Weeks 1-6, Tuesdays, September 11 - October 16, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., 1st six classes for $75.
Weeks 7-12, Tuesdays, October 23 - December 4, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., Continuing six classes for $75. No class Nov. 6. (Pre-requisite Weeks 1-6)
Tai Chi classes have been divided into two separate sections for $75 each on the Timberlane School Brochure to help our students financially. Also, this gives the opportunity for new students to experience Tai Chi, and to see if they would like to continue learning the movements. Or students can pay for the full 12 weeks for $150.
Also, when students attend at least 7 nights out of 12 of my Tai Chi, in future classes they can take just the 2nd section, which is the last 6 weeks, to refine their movements for the $75, which also includes practicing the beginning movements too. If you were notified of your qualification in my e-mail and you want to join us for the 2nd half, you can either print out my registration form above, which separated both sessions, or on Timberlane School's registration form you can cross out the word "first" and print in "last" 6 weeks. Any questions, please contact me.
Minimum of 8 students required for the Tai Chi class to be held, so please register early! Bring a friend, relative, neighbor, or co-worker to join with you, to share this beneficial program for a healthier and happier life. The first night of class, students will meet in Room 400, take the right front door at the high school, turn left down the 1st hallway, room is on the right. After that, Tai Chi practice will be held in Hallways #100 & #200 connection - enter the right front door, walk straight down to the end of the hallway.
REIKI LEVEL I CLASS - Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive technique using "Ki” - a life force energy also known in other cultures as Chi, Qi, Prana, Mana, Orgone, or Bioplasma, and is recognized in Science as Bio-electricity. In this class students learn simply laying-on-of-hands, combined with prayer and therapeutic-grade essential oils of the Bible to help induce relaxation and well-being. Even though we have seen and heard of so many Reiki healings, practitioners do not take the credit for healing others, for it is the heavenly power, divine intervention, positive intention, the individual's faith, and own bio-electrical energy field, that supports the body's natural ability to help heal itself. Reiki is practiced in hospitals and was recommended by the famous Dr. Mehmet Oz on his TV show.
This healing power is easy to learn to help self and others to get back into balance to promote good health, or better quality of life. This class will also cover the science of the human energy field as proven and seen with Kirlian photography and the Squid magnetometer, vibrations, meditation, grounding, and clearing; includes sensitivity exercises, hand positions and techniques.
The Chi vital life force has been experimented and utilized by the Chinese for thousands of years, even before the time of Jesus; many health benefits and healings have been documented using this power in Tai Chi, Qigong, Acupuncture, Acupressure, and Martial Arts. This Chi (Ki) energy may help anyone, for it does not discriminate, it is not prejudice or hypocritical, nor egotistical; this healing energy gift is open to all religions, and no matter what color, creed or race, all are welcome. By understanding the pure essence of universal Chi (Ki), and with unconditional love and compassion in our hearts, we become enlightened, and realize that we truly are all one and should help each other.
With Reiki or any other healing method, a good diet, exercise, and working with your physician are very important. Reiki is only one alternative healing technique, there are many other modalities available that are also very beneficial for body, mind and spirit; so please be wary of individuals who think their way is the only way; as the Bible indicates, learn discernment.
Two Thursdays, September 20 & 27, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., $85 (includes materials). An attunement and certificate are given at each level. Please bring a thick blanket and pillow on the 2nd night of each level for practice. Materials are included. Classes will be held in Room 400. Reiki Levels II & III will be taught in the Spring 2013.
